Extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality category of olive oil that one can consume. By definition it must have free fatty acid level below 0,8%, zero organoleptic defects and a fruity flavor. For better quality, it must be derived by cold extraction in temperature below 27oC.

VARIETY: Amfissis

A variety mostly grown in the central part of Greece and mainly around Delphi. Its organoleptic profile is characterized by a medium fruity with notes of grass, herbs, banana, forest fruits and almond. A mild and well-balanced bitter and spicy aftertaste.

ACIDITY: 0,11

Acidity is one of the quality parameters set by IOC for extra virgin olive oil. By definition EVOO it must have free fatty acid level below 0,8%. This value is always determined by a chemical laboratory and cannot be detected by sensory analysis (you cannot taste it).

AROMAS

: Green fruity aroma with notes of freshly – cut grass, tomato, almond, banana and herbs.

HARVEST: Fall 2020

As any fresh and very sensitive to oxidation product, olive oil must be consumed within 18 months from the harvest time, for enjoying all its aromas, flavors and health benefits. In the Northern Hemisphere where Greece is, the harvest is taking place from October to January.

Mer des oliviers de Delphes 1000 ans is the extra virgin olive oil produced by the centenarian olive trees of the ancient olive grove of Delphi. The fruits are harvested exclusively by hand, and they are processed within a few hours of harvest at temperatures below 25 C. The result is a special olive oil with intense fruity and aroma of fresh olive fruits. Available in a collectible wooden box and in a limited number of bottles (400 per year).

Mer des Oliviers de Delphes olive oil is produced by the Kanatas family which is the 5th generation of producers in the olive grove of Amfissa – Delphi. This olive grove, with its centenarian olive trees up to 3000 years old, it is considered the oldest olive grove in Europe. Their goal is to promote this special olive oil and make it famous to the tasters and to all lovers of good olive oil around the world.
